Musculoskeletal Injections - Overview

E-mail Print

Musculoskeletal injections are a broad range of injections that are used predominantly to treat pain.  These injections are performed using imaging guidance so that a needle may be placed either into a joint, or the surrounding soft tissues, such as tendons, tendon sheaths, muscles and bursae.

Numerous treatment options are available for those who have back pain, as well as back related leg pain, commonly referred to as "sciatica", such as epidural, nerve root and facet joint injections.  Athletes also benefit from musculoskeletal injections, as tendon and muscle injuries may be treated with autologous blood, platelet rich plasma and polidocanol injections.
