Sandra graduated from the University of Johannesburg South Africa in 1989 as a Diagnostic Radiographer. At her graduation she received the Agfa Bowl Cup for her academic achievements throughout her studies.

Early in her career she specialized in MRI scanning and her dedication and commitment earned her a senior placement at an elite musculoskeletal radiology private practice in Johannesburg, where she was privileged to scan national and international athletes. On arrival in Melbourne, she furthered her career by completing her level 1 MRI examination.

Caring for her patients has always been a priority, with Sandra ensuring that all patients are comfortable, well informed and adequately prepared for their MRI scan.

Obtaining her graduate diploma in medical ultrasound in 1995 (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology - RMIT), Julie has for the last 7 years taken a special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound. She also has a strong interest in female pelvic ultrasound.

Julie obtained a doctorate of philosophy at Monash University in the department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences in December 2007. Her research topic was titled Plantar plate of the lesser metatarsophalangeal joints: Sonographic evaluation and correlation with MRI, histology and direct inspection. As part of her thesis, five papers were published in the American Journal of Radiology, European Radiology, Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, Foot & Ankle Surgery and Australasian Radiology. Julie was invited to write a chapter ‘MR imaging and ultrasound of metatarsalgia’ in Clinics of North America, which was published in 2008.

Julie has also presented a number of related papers at the United Kingdom Radiologic Conference (2003), Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine National Conference (2003 & 2005), Australian Sonographer’s Association National Conference (2004) and numerous ultrasound workshops.
