Obstetric Ultrasound Melbourne.

An obstetric ultrasound is an ultrasound imaging technique that enables you to capture images of the pregnant uterus in real-time.

What Is An Obstetric Ultrasound?

During your obstetric ultrasound, the sonographer will use a transducer which emits sound waves. Your lower abdomen will have gel applied to it so as to enable that the sound waves examine the pelvis accurately, by harmlessly bouncing off the uterus and pregnancy, returning to the transducer whereby the diagnostic images are acquired.

The examination is used to monitor growth rate, assess for any signs of fetal distress as well as assess for the presence of any abnormality.

Female Pelvic Ultrasound.

Female pelvic sonography is a specialised ultrasound examination focusing on the uterus, ovaries and endometrium (lining of the uterus). It is also used to assess the stage and health of a pregnancy.

As preparation may be required for a pelvic ultrasound, please call Melbourne Radiology Clinic on (03) 9667 1667 in advance for instructions.
